Argentina

Located in South America and the Southern Hemisphere, Argentina covers an area of 3.800 km in length, from latitude 22º to 55º S. It shares its frontier with Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile, and has a perimeter of 9.376 km.

Glaciar Perito MorenoArgentina has a characteristic contrast between its immense oriental plains and the imposing Andes mountain range towards the west. This has the highest peak in the western hemisphere: the Aconcagua, 6.959 m high.

In its passage from Jujuy (north) to Tierra de Fuego (south), the range exhibits a wonderful variety: high plateaus in the Northwest – desert like, with valleys, ravines and hills – to the lake regions, forests and glaciers of the Patagonia.

In the Argentine Mesopotamia, in the subtropical forest, there is evidence of the formation of geographical accidents, so attractive for tourists, the Cataratas del Iguazú (Iguazú Falls).

Cataratas del IguazúThe Pampa, in the central part of the country, is the largest and best known area of plains. It has intense agricultural and cattle activities. The landscape changes towards the the south-west area, because of the sierras (low mountain ranges).

Towards the South, from the Andes to the Atlantic sea, it is easy to view the rocky plateaus or the Patagnoia, with their typical winds, all year round.

The Atlantic Patagonia coast, with high cliffs, the Valdés Peninsula, is also an interesting place to visit, where you can often see marine animals.
